Memberships

Recurring plans with included visits.

Memberships

A membership is a recurring monthly plan that includes a set number of services, like two cuts a month. It bills the client automatically and gives you predictable, recurring revenue.

Create a plan with a monthly price and the services it includes, each with a quantity per month. Every included service is a credit the member spends when they book it. Clients subscribe online, and members book the same way as anyone else, with covered visits handled automatically.

Memberships are available on every plan.

Membership billing and fees

A membership bills the client monthly on its own schedule, separate from any single visit. When a member books a covered service, that visit is included: it shows as covered on their confirmation and settles without a separate charge.

Each monthly payment carries about 5.0% + 30¢ in fees, taken out before the money reaches you:

  • Stripe processing: 2.9% + 30¢
  • Stripe Billing, the recurring-invoice fee: 0.7%
  • barber.rsvp platform fee: 1.4%

The plan editor shows the estimated fees and your estimated net per month as you set the price. Exact Stripe rates vary by account, so treat these as estimates.

Fees apply to the monthly dues, not to each covered visit. A covered visit never charges the client again.

How covered visits pay the barber

When a member redeems a covered service, the barber is credited that service's member price, not its full standard price. The monthly price is spread across every included credit, weighted by each service's standard price.

Example: a plan is $85/month and includes two haircuts that are normally $50 each, so $100 of standard value. Each redeemed haircut records $42.50 of service revenue for the barber. Across the two covered cuts that is $85, exactly the monthly price.

So over a full billing period, the member prices of the redeemed services add up to what the client paid in dues. A member who books fewer covered visits than their plan includes just leaves credits unused; the dues are the same.

Membership fees are a cost of the business, not a deduction from the barber's recorded revenue. Account for them in your commission or booth rent, the same way you would card processing on a normal visit.
